Because there are so few players around, finishing a multiplayer match may take days of making your move then waiting for the next player to open their app again, so single player is where this app shines. That said, the game do have notifications to warn you it's your turn and I feel the devs are doing their very best to ensure players have the best experience possible despite the small playerbase.

The AI is complete trash... I own the physical copy of this game and frequently score high, but the AI always gives you dice that are not helpful to the board; this is especially true if you're trying the daily challenge. In over a year of doing this two or three times a day it has only giving me dice good enough to get me a score for a marker once. It's great for pass and play, it's okay to play with friends but has serious issues with connectivity and it's terrible for playing against the AI.

This had been one of my favorite games to play, but the latest update has been very glitchy. The game doesn't fit properly on the screen anymore, it will freeze fairly often, and a few of the tools don't work properly. (Flux brush continues to be broken, but now some of the others are not working well either.) I hope it gets fixed soon!
